Is Laser Hair Removal Safe?

How Many Sessions of Laser Hair Removal?
Everyone’s hair is different. Generally, once a session is completed, it can last for years, even in some cases forever. 4-8 treatments are required at 4-6 week intervals. To maintain the results of your laser hair removal treatment, regrowth can be controlled with touch-ups every 6 to 12 months, depending on how quickly the hair grows back. These touch-ups keep your skin smooth and hair-free.
Since each hair is in a different stage of growth and the laser can only target actively growing hairs, it is not possible to remove the hair completely in one session.
Step 1
You will arrive to the clinic with the area shaved and ready, and you will be given goggles to prepare for treatment. You can shave yourself before treatment, or we can do it for you.
Step 2
Once undressed, you will lay down and our staff will apply a special clear gel to the treatment area to help protect it from the laser.
Step 3
The procedure itself doesn’t take very long, depending on how big is the treatment area. Generally it is about 15-30 minutes. Each session, laser light is applied to the area where hair needs to be eliminated.
Step 4
Once the procedure is finished, you will be good to return to your daily activities with no downtime!
Shave
Shave the treatment area the night before your appointment.
No Wax
Do not wax in the 4 weeks leading up to your appointment as pigment is required in the hair follicle for the laser to identify the hair and treatment to be effective
Avoid direct sunlight
Avoid exposing the area to direct sunlight for minimum 2-4 weeks prior to your treatment and always protect the skin with sunscreen.
Post care
There may be some mild heat and redness in areas that have been treated. Soothe any redness and sensitivity with Skinstitut™ Laser Aid. This can be applied liberally for 3-5 days or until the skin has returned to its pre-treatment state.
Things to avoid
For 24 hours post-treatment, avoid shaving, waxing, or plucking hair, exfoliation, excessive sweating, swimming or saunas, very hot showers, and tight restrictive clothing.
Avoid exposing the area to direct sunlight for minimum 2-4 weeks after your treatment and always use the Skinstitut™ Age Defence 50+ sunscreen to protect the skin and maintain results.
Skincare
Skinstitut™ Glycolic Scrub 14% is recommended to use 5 days post-treatment to ensure the hair is encouraged to shed from the follicle and aid in the treatment of ingrown hairs.
